Writing and maintaining a blog is not easy!!! Over the year that I’ve stepped away I’ve missed blogging, but staying fresh and relevant is not for the faint of heart. So I went away and refocused, trying to reestablished the reason for me starting this blog. For me it was simple, I wanted to create a platform where I could share all of the things that I love and obsessed about! A place where readers could go and get some inspiration, be exposed to something new and beautiful, and most share imagines of the things that matter to me the most!
So when the time came that I no longer felt I could meet that expectation I set away, even thought about deleting my blog! But lately I’ve been really inspired to start again, to write my story through my eyes, but in a new and fresh perspective.
One of the things that really helped me become excited again about blogging and sharing is Pinterest! Yes I know you are either completely pulled into the matrix that is Pinterest or you are wondering what the big deal is all about! I have to admit that when I couldn’t get a response to join and none of my friends were on, I was getting a little anxious to say the least. But once I joined the community my knowledge base was expanded and exposed to things that really got me going, both personally and professionally.
So I wanted to share some of the things that I’ve banked away for those days I need a little push! I hope this helps you and encourages you to continue going after your dreams, sharing your passions, and making a mark on this world in your own special way!
Born in 1898 in Clayton, Alabama, the great granddaughter of a slave and the plantation owner, Ann Cole Lowe would later be know as the best kept secret in the design world.
After the death of her mother and assuming the responsibilities of running their dress shop, Ann Cole Lowe enrolled in design school in New York City in1917. With growing interest in her work she would design the dress worn by Olivia de Havilland as she accepted the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1946, under the pseudo name Sonia Rosenberg.
After meeting the future First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier during the1950′s, Ann Lowe was asked to design the wedding dress she wore during her nuptials to John F. Kennedy on September 12, 1953. With 10 days before the event Ann Lowe’s workroom flooded, along with her staff 8 months of work and 15 dresses were recreated in a short 8 days!
The ivory silk taffeta ball gown is cited as one of the most iconic bridal gowns. It is also cited that when Mrs. kennedy was asked who made her gown she never publicly stated her name, citing it was made by a “colored women”.
With her passing in 1981 her work has been presevered and can be seen in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Washington D.C’s Black Fashion Museum and The Smithsonian.
I’m busy, there is always something to do, some place to be and a lot of nights I’m too tired to even think of something creative to feed my family!
Tonight I whipped out my laptop and thumbed through the ton of recipes I’ve pinned and came across this Honey Glazed Spiced Chicken from Nutmeg Nanny.
All I can say is this is going to the top of my “go-to” list! Not only does this recipe call for ingredients that we have in the pantry – honey, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, red pepper flakes, kosher salt, and garlic powder – but it’s quick and easy – only taking 10 minutes to prep and 15 minutes under the broiler.
I would note that if you have any aversion to spicy food, you may want to decrease the amount of red pepper flakes and chili powder. If your adventurous I would throw in some fresh chilies or curry!
I’ve written a few post on Rachel Pally and I look forward to her lookbooks, she never disappoints! So here a few of my favorite looks from her Holiday 2012 line!
Solange Knowles is the business!! There are only a handful of people that I want to go into their closets and play dress up and she is one of them. She has an ease that is hard to duplicate and finds a way to incorporate her fearless style into even the most simple outfits.
So here are some of why favorite Solange looks!

I am always looking for interesting people and places and one of my favorite sites to feed this obsession is Style Like U!
The brainchild of Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum this site combines fashion, art, and editorials in a way that demonstrates how life and fashion can be in unison.
One of there best features is a journey into the closets of some of the most interesting and dynamic people I’ve ever seen.
I could go on and on, but why don’t I give you a peek at some of my favorites!!!
